Title Sequence Coursework - Typography

As I have chosen a new title for my film, I will have to find a new typography to suit the name. I have used Dafont.com to get some different fonts for the new typography. I have chosen six fonts from the website, which I think will convey the genre and narrative, of the film, really well. I have asked the members of my class to vote on which fonts they think will look the best and convey the genre/narrative of our film.

Above is the different fonts that I have chosen for the title 'Sterling Heist' and peoples' votes on which they think fits the genre/narrative of my film. The font that has been voted for the most is Downcome by Misprinted Type. I think people chose this one because it is not to bold or not to thin, and even though it is a little distorted, it is still readable. In addition, because the font is distorted is adds more of a edge to the typography which helps convey the genre of the film, in the title sequence.

Title Sequence Coursework - New Film Title

I have decided to change the name of our film as I received some spoke feedback saying that the name sounded a little sexual and did not accurately fit the genre of the film. I thought it would be good idea to think of a couple of different title names, and have people vote for which one they like best. I decided to ask the members of my class to vote for the names they like best, and which ones they think fit the best for the genre and narrative of my film.

Above are the four new titles I have chosen and peoples' votes on which one they like best and think fit the genre and narrative the best. The four new titles are all related to the narrative of the film one way or another. For example, Sterling Heist is related as the girls are stealing money, in pound, from banks; and another word for pound is sterling, which makes the title sound more sophisticated; Heist and Hunt shows the duel narrative about the girls pulling the heist and stealing money, whilst the detective is hunting the down and trying to catch them; and lastly Hoax, because hoax means to trick or deceive someone, this is related as it they deceive people and use trickery to make their way through the bank, to steal the money. In addition, I also wanted to include Obsession to the list of titles as it was the original name and gave people more of a choice to chose from.

The most votes were for 'Sterling Heist', which I also like, but wanted to get some feedback before I used it. My film is now call 'Sterling Heist'. I think that this name really suits the genre and narrative of my film and really goes well with all the features of the film. The title brings an edge to the title whilst sounding sophisticated. I am happy with the new title 'Sterling Heist', because I think it will make the film and title sequence look really good.

Tomorrow, I will start looking for different fonts that will suit the title and the genre/narrative of the film. The typography for the title sequence is important as pulls all the footage together and makes the title sequence look professional, and unifies it.
